La Porte produces of one of our best Sancerres. To offer a less expensive but still high quality wine, they also make this Sauvignon Blanc from several hillside vineyards in other parts of the Loire. As with the Sancerre, great care is taken in the making of this wine. It ferments between 15 and 18°C in thermo-regulated stainless steel tanks and then matures for 3 months on its fine lees. This “Bouquet” is a hymn to the fruit of Sauvignon and the aroma of vine blossoms. It is incredibly aromatic and shows exquisite freshness. Domaine Laporte was purchased in 1985 by Jean-Marie Bourgeois, a young, dynamic Sancerre vigneron, who extensively renovated the cellars and replanted the vineyards.
